Equivalent Circuit Element Calculation of Gapped Multiwinding Inductors

Accurate and fast models of the equivalent circuit (EC) elements gapped multiwinding inductors are essential for design galvanically isolated converters, such as Flyback LLC converters. Typically, EC acquired from measurements or time-consuming FEM simulations, both which disadvantageous optimizing magnetic device. This paper proposes a device that exclusively uses impedance matrix elements, i.e., self- mutual impedances. The advantage (IMEC) is impedances directly measurable. Furthermore, presents an analytical 2D field model to calculate elements. It quantitatively confirmed frequency significantly affects resistances inductances magnetically coupled windings. In particular, eddy currents in windings induced by fringing air gap play role besides well known skin proximity effect. proposed accurately considers all these effects foil, Litz, round wire conductors. verified using simulations measurements.
